Nice photos. I've photographed ravens at Bryce Canyon too, and was able to get just as close. These birds are amazing, and usually very difficult to get close to.
A kid was nearly able to touch them while moving slowly foreward.

Great capture of the eyes.
These flies, about four different species, were driving me crazy while out photographing in Sweden this weekend.
I read somewhere that the females bite mamals, including humans, and suck blood. Quite anoying, but I really think they look so cool.

Double emergence

I've been in Sweden this weekend with two other fellow photographers. Waking up early morning three days in a row to take photographs of emerging dragonflies and damselflies, is not that bad when the pond is two minutes walk from your bed. I managed to get a series of photos of several dragonflies e...

Great sharpness in the picture.
I know Anax junius is a big dragonfly, even though I've never seen one (not yet that is), but I believe the top picture is slightly cropped.
It must be a rather juveline dragonfly, as its eyes are rather pale. Nice control of flash with no disturbing highlights.

Great close up on the eyes.
I think this is an Anax species of some kind.

A nice image Mike.

I am pretty sure this individual must be a female Blue Dasher (Pachydiplax longipennis), the non-green eyes tells me it's not matured yet.

Thank you Mike, glad you like the photo.
I'm preparing for next seasons macrophotographing by ordering a 5D soon, not because I need it at all, but because I love photographing :D

Great photo, nice and simple surroundings, as always sharp from your hand.

In my opinion the photo would be a bit more balanced with the butterfly just slightly lower in the frame.

Male fly manners

This pair of hover flies was doing the naughty stuff, and while I photographed, the male jump forward and stepped on the females eyes. Rude in my opinion, guess fly manners differ somewhat from human's. http://www.photomacrography1.net/images/100905_010_640.jpg 10th of September '05, Kolding, Denmar...

great photo, great dragonfly :-)
The green coloration makes me guess it's a Eastern Pondhawk.

merry xmas and happy new year too Rey.

This is a lovely picture, I like the way this is exposed/processed, so that the butterfly is not very bright.
Details as always in your pictures, even in these small 600 pixel versions. The framing/crop could have left a bit more space around the insect.

This is really an interesting shot. Not only the frog, but the background leaves and the dark setting, makes this picture a pleasure to watch.

Another snake, great I like your pictures of these animals. I can just imagine how good it would be if the snakes were facing each other. Still with the nose of the normal coloured snake, sneaking out of focus, it still is a very lovely picture. I would love to have a photo-oppertunity like yours ne...

Hi George, good to see new members joining.
Your 2nd photo of the screwdriver is really cool, here the use of stacking creates "infinite" dof. Everything is seen like viewing a model on a 3D Cad screen.

Your flower picture above is lovely coloured and nicely framed.
I really like it.
