It's very hard to get thins kind on green surface, for a good shot. They are usually not that exposed.
The size was about 1 cm.

+8 lense with diffuser at F8, 1/200, iso80

what settings did you use? What camera?
Depending on the light, try to use high aperture number and fast shutter, with flash light.

I like to composition of the spider. A bit better focus and some levels fixing would give a very good results. But since i'm a newbie also, let's wait for some experts.

Hehe..i used my wifes roller pads once, and after some time shooting in nearby bush on the grass, police stoped by and asked me if i know what my name is and where do i live :)
They looked me even more funny, when i mentioned i shoot bugs from real close :lol:

The flash i'm making won't look like that, i'm using very small flash lights, Her's one i will be using. I will most certainly try your technique, once i finish this.

Well, the thing is that diffuser is a must if i want to use +8 lense, otherwise i get shadow from the lense itself. I try to always shoot at F8, but to never gor below 1/100 . This gives me optimal results. But when the ambien light is really bad and flash is just not enough, i use led ring also. It...

This flys are very friendly here and very into shooting :-) I just hade to be patient and wait by the flower with camera ready. My knees are still hurting because of that :-)
