Thanks all for your comments. Roy, when I go "hunting" for critters and come across one, I back off and think about the best approach to avoid startling the subject and angle for composition. In this instance, the dragonfly was looking over it's domain (my backyard) from the end of a branch. Directl...

Hello Sue.

There's a Hallmark card with a sappy poem inside just waiting for this to be on the cover.

Excellent exposure and composition.

I need some more tissues.

Hello Thomas.

I miss you buddy!

Selective focus is a challenge to me as I usually shoot at such high magnification that I strive for the most DOF.

Beautiful color and I love those eyes.

Looks more like me of Fridays after a hard week.

Nice shot Mike. I like the flow of the body out of and back into the frame. Beautiful earth tone colors and the pebbles complement the snake nicely.

It's not too bad on focus. The wings are a little OOF, but the body is sharp enough. Beautiful blue in this critter.

I need some enlightenment as well folks.

Is anyone familiar with Sunpak's ringlight DX-12R or various dedicated fixed mount flashes? What are their flash speeds and which would be best for high magnification macro? What accessories would be needed to use them with Canon EOS cameras?

Thanks.

Yellow skipper on pink pentas

Sort of looks like a furry F16. Note the proboscis searching for nectar.

Hello Gunn.

A lighter BG would have been nice, but the face is distinguishable enough as is. Sometimes we have to settle for what nature allows. Beautiful color and sharp detail on the butterfly.

Hello Péter.

Nice shot. Great DOF and sharp detail at this magnification.

It's a scary thought having my digital camera suspended over water. It always amazes me how some little critters can stand on the surface tension of water.

Hello Rick.

Nice capture with sharp detail where it counts. Too bad the BG wasn't close enough to be illuminated by the flash.
