Robin Eggs - I do not know what to do

Danny, Michael, and I (Tom) couldn't be happier and more impressed with our members and friends! It would be wonderful if we all got to know each other better. Here's a forum to post images and short autobiographies of ourselves as well as any other info you would like to post about yourself. We are looking forward to meeting you all!

Robin Eggs - I do not know what to do

Post by S. Alden »

Image

These eggs were in my backyard, on the ground, hatching out. No nest, no parents, nothing. Funny thing, they were not there yesterday.

Anyway, I put them in a human made nest and put them on top of my brick bar-b-cue grill (not used). I hope the parents find them, they are hatching out and they are going to die

I doubt there will be a happy outcome to this, but this may help. Know that you did your best for these little guys, in any case!

Thanks Mike. I have been googling all over on this. Basically, you are right, I did all I can. I cannot "raise" them, even if I did know what to do, the chances of survival for them are very slim unless the parents find them.

It is so odd, to find three robin eggs next to each other on the ground and no nest and no parents. What is even stranger, is the fact they are hatching.

Hi,

did you try calling Animal rescue or so, sometimes they have people that raise little birds and other animals by hand. Maybe they have a chance.

I live out in rural PA. We have no animal rescue, at least no one that wants to deal with this.

Two adult robins are "hanging" around the nest. They have not went to the babies, but they look at them. I do not know if they are the parents, or they are just interested in them. They do not stay long, but they do come back every once in a while. I hope they are the parents or will adopt the little ones.

I'm almost afraid to ask, but what word is there on the robins?

They did not make it. Did not make it totally out of the shell. They needed the parents.

I think it was for the best. When the eggs were dropped, I think it damaged them, the babies. One egg was really bloody and well, they never really made it out of the shell anymore than what is shown.
