Got my new Canon EOS 1Ds MkII today... :)

Actually, I received a Canon EOS 20D, today, to replace the Canon EOS Rebel XT (with which I've been having problems

). The EOS 20D is a lot better camera than the Rebel XT. If you are at all serious about photography and are planning to purchase the EOS Rebel XT I would highly suggest that you save the extra money and buy the EOS 20D. Right now the 20D is selling for $999.99 at Adorama. I'd be willing to bet the price will come down some more soon.

300/f2.8L and all.

Well, I've been using the 20 for almost two years now. I should say I prefer it to the XT because it has an AF cross-sensor in the centre which the XT does not. I find this cross-sensor very helpful in low-light and low-contrast situations, at least for general photography.

The 1D series cams are a few leagues ahead in this though! They have 45 AF sensors and I think the 1DSM2 has 9 cross-sensors out of those 45. And the beautiful thing is that those cross-sensors work even with certain lenses as slow as f4. The single one on the 20D only works with lenses which are f2.8 or faster.

As for me, I think I'll skip the 30D and go for the 15D when it comes out. The 1DSM2 is outside my tether whilst the 1DM2N has no resolution/noise advantage over my 20D and is three times the price.

I finally got to where I own my own a$$ and have a reliable vehicle to go out of town. I decided I wanted to do some bird and big game photography. What have I done so far with all the newly purchased equipment
