This is an outstanding shot! I have seen a lot of spiders posted on here but these are...well quite unusual. Being an ex-sailor my imagination does not have far to go. Great photograph Paul.

I had not planned anything like what happened here: serendipity. When I saw the spider abseiling from the ceiling, coming to rest in a position where I could shoot (handheld, leaning on a balustrade), I just shot away as the spider was spinning ever so slowly, remaining steadfast in this position (I guess it is a defensive pose).
When sorting through the images later, I realised that I had a perfect match of front and back, so I put them together.
