these Volvox cells come from a cell culture made by a good friend of mine (Thanks, Sebastian !)
The first image is focused on the fine plasma bridges between the single cells of the colony.
The second image is focused a little bit above of the colony. You see the two flagella of each
cell of the colony, knocking against the cover glass bottom side.
Objective 100x Oil, DIC, flash.

Some believe that multicellular life started with these. Good a place as any I suppose in the primordial soup. Great shots here Gerd, very nice.
