It's been 'lichen week' in the macro forum so how about in this one too :)

These are photos of a common lichen in our area. It attaches itself to fences, signs, window sills, pretty well anything.

First image FOV is 9mm, the others are about 4mm. Photo taken with Sony DSC-P150 through eyepiece of Olympus microscope, hand-held.

I have bunches of these growing in my yard in tuffts. They seem to favor the shade of the pines, since that is where they mostly occur. I have never found them any place else in the yard. Some good photos there Steve. :D
