Stentor coeruleus

Post by Kenv »

This large free swimming Stentor continually changed shape and length. When stretched out it measured over 900 um and could squash intself almost into a ball measuring 300 um. i'm not sure if that is a nucleus or a vacuole toward the posterior end.
20X objective oblique light.

Nice stentor pictures Ken. These are incredibly fascinating creatures to watch. Each time I find one, I watch it for hours :)

Very nice. Clear shots with good color. I have photographed these before in the lab and they always come out dark colored. Since getting my own scope I have yet to find one.
