Mirror-Slap woes are over.
Using an old B/W enlarger, I stripped the optics off leaving the cast
aluminium illumination box. The box was very rigid so I was able to attach (Araldite) a home made macro focussing rail which gives me precise control on the camera. This allows me to have the camera a small distance away from the photo tube, stopping the vibrations from mirror-slap from reaching the microscope. The gap is covered with black plastic wrap so no light get it. It works extremely well and I have been able to get the camera and the eyepieces par-focal.
Hope you all had a nice Xmas.
Cheers Kenv

Good work Ken!
You might want double check your parfocality (is that a new word? ) once or twice over the next few days just to be safe. I've got two stands over scopes like you have, and when I set up the second one, I basically "made" a goodly portion of the stand. It seemed like it took a day or two for everything to "settle" into a state of equilibrium.
