I've had my eye out for this creature for the past year. My latest sample jar has produced 1 or 2 specimens in each slide, but most were not very photogenic. Today I came across one that worked for me.

Olympus 40/0.95, 3.3X photo-eyepiece, Canon 10D.
Rather "strong" oblique lighting was used to show more clearly the very transparent lorica's. This results in a sort of "embossed" look.

Wow! That's excellent! I've been searching for these little guys to no avail. Gorgeoud job with the loricas! I also did not know they had a red (eyespot?).

Beautiful Charlie - not only is this very good from a forensic point of view its also a work of art, beautifully composed, I would be happy to hang it on my wall!

Wow. That looks like a beautifully mounted herbarium specimen. It's amazing how you were able to retain the flagella against the light background.
