Lichen

Image

Wild M8 Microscope
Camera:Canon Powershot S50
ISO200, F4.9. 1/40 sec
Sunlight
Specimen from Langstone, Hampshire, 21 March 2005

I've had this lichen encrusted twig sitting on my bench for the last two weeks. As I passed the microscope I noticed it was in the sun, so couldn't resist a quick snap in natural light.

Ahh, the warmth of natural sunlight. Interesting structure with curious looking stomata.

Very nice photograph Graham. Lichens always seem to be a good subject for a stereomicroscope it seems or at least to me. You never can tell what you may find living among them. :D
