barnacle nauplius larva
I had a great weekend with my friends of the dutch microscopist society but I am still waiting for my films to be developed. I'll post an image of a marine plankton organism I made earlier. It is a larva of a barnacle, the nauplius stage. The resemblance with copepod larvae shows that the shelled barnacles are crustaceans, not molluscs. The barnacle larvae have these characteristic 'horns'. Shot with d.i.c. with a 10X neofluar.

Hi ya' Wim
What a beautiful image of a strange looking creature. Theory has it that life came from outer space. Perhaps it's true. A nauplius looks very alien! Thanks for sharing this with us. I would never have seen a marine nauplius had you not posted this image.
Best regards as always, my friend
