Floscularia rotifer at home
Hello,
spring time, rotifer time. In addition to Tom's great shots, this one is a rotifer with housing.
It produces these little pills and so the house grows brick by brick...
Darkfield, 5 shots stacked in Heliconfocus, Objective 20x, flash.
Thank you Tom, for that great forum.
Gerd

Hi ya' Gerd
This is a terrific image. When I view images, such as this one, I can't help but think there is a deeper source of intelligence than possessing a brain and nervous system can account for. It's hard for me to believe that genetics and instinct alone can account for such intricate structures made by the simplest forms of life. What a simple, but elegant, existence.
Best regards as always,

Hello Dominique,
my main interest in that picture was to show the housing completely sharp.
Fortunately the moving ciliates of the rotifer were sharp only in the first shot
which was the lowest layer in Heliconfocus. On all other shots the moving
parts were not sharp. And during the shooting the animal didn`t change its direction.
So the image was made a little by chance !
