Hello ,
this is a cross section of a sunflower petal.
Hand section through living material. Upper side with the papillae ist
the front side of the petal, lower side with hairs is the backside towards
the stipe. Objective 40x, DIC, flash, 7 images computed with Heliconfocus.

That is a gorgeous image Gerd. You say "hand section"? Does that mean you cut the thin section by hand, or did you use a microtome?

Great shot, you can see the tiny pigment grains within certain cells.(Modified chloroplasts perhaps?)

@ George : yes, this is a fully manual section. I made several
probes, before i had this one :D
@ Green Larry : Chloroplasts are already modified proplastides.
These plastides, which contain the colour pigments, are modified proplastides too, they are called chromoplasts :D
