And you thought humans had a Battle of the Sexes going....We ain't got nuthin' on certain fire ants! I'll be interested to find out if this is true of the invasive species in the US. I seem to recall that they are prone to just reproduce and have new queens join the current colony, rather than do a mass flight like regular ants. This could be the explanation for this behavior (assuming I am remembering right--I haven't looked it up).

That ant trap is quite interesting. We could learn something from that, maybe along the lines of warfare even. :)

Very interesting Mike. Yell ya what though, we are very lucky they are the size they are. They are very clever and in a league of their own in this world. Fascinating articles Mike and thanks for the links.
