Rumor has it that Ken Ramos likes amoebae, so here is another one for you Ken. This is from a culture that started as a jar of muck and water from a stock pond in Missouri a month or so ago. It is absolutely loaded with these guys, and plenty of vegetation but not much else.

I had to study this one for a while Gary. A number of lobopodia on this, may belong to the Order Granulopodida, not sure. Would have to research this one to make sure. Quite a number of cell inclusions and it is evident it likes algae. Nice image though, thanks. I always enjoy ameba images.

They are some interesting blobs of protoplasm to observe if one studies them enough. They show little movement compared to other protozoans, such as ciliates and flagellates but however their morphology and physiology are absolutely amazing. What intriuges me the most is that they have a primative ability to reason or show a remarkable amount of selectivity, for a single cell, in making choices.
