This definitely deserves the name "psychedelic fish"! But they have a more conventional name. I photographed this one in an aquarium, where they are (I'm told) very very difficult to keep alive because of their insistence on live food (very small brine shrimp and similar creatures) that can be gathered from near the bottom. They won't even try to swim higher in the tank to eat!

That is one beautiful fish there Mike. You captured the colors very well. I see why it could be an item of the 1960's. I may have had a shirt that looked like that. (Not that I still have it of course) Picky eaters huh? Well, I prefer my food "dead." Again a very nice and colorful photograph Mike, Thanks!

hi mike
great shot of the mandarin fish. do you normally take these shots at an angle from from the aquarium glass or in a straight line to the fish? i have been trying to shoot some congo tetras (small, beautiful fish with iridescent blue hues) without much success. the iridescence always doesn't show up well.
regards
