"Teddy Bear" bee

Post by Moebius »

I bet this bee does not get cold in winter...just a beautiful bee. I do not know the name, but sure looks like a teddy bear...

Image

However, I find the bright yellow of the flower somewhat distracting.

1) How could I have lessened the yellows while taking the shot (faster shutter speed?)
2) Can this be changed via PS or PI after the fact or is it acceptable? (I did a little softening via PI, but not sure I knew what I was doing...played with "Levels")

Sue,

That would be much appreciated. I would be intrigued to learn what/how you can do.

You can dl from http://perceptions.smugmug.com/photos/32262705-M-1.jpg

Ooh, a contest...though I don't know if I am good enough for a contest yet...only been at this since mid June.

LOL..not a contest, just a challenge. We have a different one each week and this week it is "Bee Week". Just something for us to do each week - to meet the challenge.

You can also suggest a challenge that you would like to see.

I will work on the photo this evening and let you know what i did.

Hi again Moebius,

Well, I like your shot just as it is. To me, the bee stands out beautifully against the yellow flower background, and the detail in the bee itself is excellent.

I am not a macro person, so this is just my humble opinion.

Wow nice bee love the eye, the yellow is a little bright but I find like it gives the bee a warm glow, I think you can tone down specific colours in photoshop if you really want to, make sure you have not got colour saturation set to High on your camera that wont help.

Here you go. Not saying it is better, but I de-saturated your image a bit and applied Luminance Sharpening.

Nice Bee image Moebius. :D It does look a little like a teddy bear with all that fur. 8)

Sue you did a good job with the image. Would "Luminance Sharpening," make me look any better? Huh?....Ya think?
