Robber Fly

Post by Moebius »

I snuck up on this beauty and thought I was lucky to get a few shots off. When I got the shots I wanted, I decided to see how close I could get to it...I was able to get him on my finger, but he flew away before I could get another pic.

I said thank you for the pose and wished him well.

A beautiful shot. Looks like he is ready to spring into action with those hind legs.

Great image! I had one on my finger, but I need both hands to handle my camera, so I could not get an image of that.

You've got some amazing flies in Northern America. Great photo with lot of details like the feet, and a nice green background.
How big would you estimate this one (lenght) ?

Well, it all depends. I will tell you about 1.5", but I tell my kids about 6 inches. In 20 years, in stories this thing will be the size of a small cat.

I love these hairy robber flies. Most of ours don't have all that hair, but now and then we do come across them. Sure would like to see a few like this  , nice shot and macro work Ken.

All the best Ken, also a great perspective this view :D

Danny.
