revenge for sleepless nights

Post by Wim van Egmond »

Image

This mosquito was caught in a flim container, put in the freezer, cleared in clove oil, cut in half between the legs and photographed in polarised light. It is a bit of a messy image but the revenge was sweet and this one will not trouble me anymore!

Wim

ps. clove oil is a good substance to clear insects but they stay hard so you have to dissect them to be able to make a slide. The clearing takes weeks but the muscles stay intact. They show up nice in polarised light. Perhaps an idea for Helicon focus images since than you don't have to make them so flat.
