a cross section through a pumpkin stem.
Lots of different hairs all over the surface.
Objective 20x, DIC, 6 images stacked.

These are very nice, and the DIC shows the structures well.
After seeing some of your plant "sections" I went out an got a hand microtome. Definitely need some practice using it though
Are you using a small "hand" microtome? If so, what are you using for the blade, and how are you sharpening it?

thanks for the compliments. I'm using a small hand microtome and
a 'bigger' microtome as well. I exclusively use disposable blades,
manufactured by leica or feather and appropriate mounts.
So you always get reproducible results cause of the perfect
sharpening of each blade. Some time ago i tried out sectioning with a
normal microtome blade and a razor blade too, with horrible results.
Sharpening never works, so i gave up and finally took disposable blades.....
