Trachelius ovum

Post by Ken Ramos »

To the best of my ability, I believe this may well be Trachelius ovum 200-400um. Jahn, Bovee, Jahn; "how to know the Protozoa," page 220, fig. 387
Ellipsoid body, with anterior, curved neck grooved lengthwise. Mouth with trichites, at base of groove. Cytoplasm much vesiculated, granular, in bands, Many water expelling (wev) vesicles.
This specimen found in a fresh collection of Vaucheria algae. :)
