just another shot taken while sitting in the grass. it looked as though this tiny beetle was perched on a torch. correctly exposing both the black chiton and the bright yellow flower was somewhat challenging.

I imagine it was, but this pic shows the exposure dead on -- nice work!

Now, inquiring minds want to know... What was the beast on the back side of the stem? A stilt bug, perhaps?

Looks like you handled the exposure pretty good. This can be difficult, but you did an excellent job with plenty of details in the black and the whites are not blown.
