A Green Cranefly

Post by Beetleman »

HAPPY 4th OF JULY USA. This Cranefly was hanging out on my cucumber plant. It looks like he is drinking the sap from the vine and I wonder if he is getting green from that . Take a look at the first pic, it looks like his abdomen is shrunken in and the bottom part is filling up with "Bug Juice". I couldn`t get around to the left of the fly to capture more of his feeding because it was early morning and the sun was shining right behind the plant stalk. IMO, I like the way it came out with the backlighting. Early morning Power Drink. Have a safe and Happy 4th (a day off....YEEEESSSSSS)

Here is a closer look

These are some really good shots Doug. :D Most of the craneflies around my area are dark brown or gray and don't really make for good photographs. Both are really good but I like the first one the best. :D
