Golden Tortoise Beetle

Post by Beetleman »

Golden Tortoise Beetle (Charidotella sexpunctata). It seems this beetle and the inset are the same beetle ( the orange one I posted a picture of earlier in the forums) . They can change color and even get rid of the spots in a couple of hours time. Found on my Morning Glorys. This one is not really as golden as they can be.
For some info on how they change colors http://crawford.tardigrade.net/bugs/BugofMonth08.html

Pretty interesting stuff there Doug. I didn't know that these or anyother beetle for that matter could do that. Pretty good shot of the little guy, like the inset. :D

Thats why we enjoy this hobby...we are always seeing and learning something new every day about our world. Its like the Borg on StarTrek....we have a collective mind with all the people here in the forums. One mind finds out something and we all learn about it. Thanks Ken. :D
