Microbiology Podcast

http://www.podcast.net/show/7352 I'm just now "discovering" MP3 files and podcasts for the first time. The above podcast from the American Society for Microbiology looks like it would be of interest to a lot of people here. And if you're into podcasts, but don't know about that site, podcast.net, yo...

I just "processed" that you'd also bought an Acratech. I'd take good care of it while giving it a quick try. I have one, and am not totally happy with it. It is very light, and seems very easy to clean and dust-resistant. But the angled locking ring is a pain in the neck, always seems to be going th...

Tom, you'll love the 300/2.8. It is astoundingly sharp, even with the 2x. Check out this shot, and the 100% crop from it (I've got another pair I'll try and remember to post tomorrow just to show off). Burrowing Owl, SW Florida, 1/250th second, f/8, ISO 100, Canon 1Ds, tripod mount Here's the full s...

Top Secret Photos of the New Stealth Bomber!

Well, actually it's just that same butterfly I've been posting photos of! But I caught him in a very dramatic pose here, and kind of liked it. :)

Great behavioral shots...Did you stick around and see how things came out?

I don't have knowledge of these particular spiders, but in general the male spiders are smaller (sometimes much smaller) than the females.

Jewelry photography is hard, this is a good start. I'd prefer to see the dark hematite against a background that wasn't black, though.

A more conventional shot of the butterfly in the "experimental" shot from a couple of days ago.

Don't worry Ken, we won't tell the boss!

Good job, especially for your first d-fly. You could've shot from further away with your 100mm lens, though! :-)

Isn't a 22mm lens kind of wide for macro, especially of poisonous snakes? YOu'd have to be really close to the poisonous snake to get any kind of subject size in the image! :P

Damsels and dragons are definitely hard to get good verticals of most of the time. Congrats on discovering IS....I won't buy a lens longer than 200mm anymore that doesn't have IS! Wonderful invention. I use my 300/4 with the old IS system similar to the way you're using your new zoom, and it is wond...

The color isn't exactly awesome, but I liked the nice regular pattern here.

I believe he was adjusting his position to taste-test a different part of the flower. I've got other shots of him in different positions on the flower, though this was the only one where I tried to get this effect.

Actually, I asked a rather nosey question, I guess! I knew SOMEHOW they were being taken care of, as birds won't last long without it. I had thought maybe you took them with you!

Butterfly Experiment

http://www.photomacrography1.net/images/swallowtailtimeEXPW2300.jpg I don't shoot a lot of butterflies, but got experimental in the Tulsa Zoo butterfly garden this weekend. Not a total success, but I think this is promising if I can get it to happen again. Clearly, the flower and bf in the upper ri...

Glad you still have something warm and feathery around to keep you company! :-) How do you take care of your birds when you travel?
