Some of you may be interested in an article that I ran into a few days ago.
Very briefly, this fellow built an auxiliary mechanical shutter that works with his Nikon D100 camera and a synchronizer built from laser pointers, to capture high speed flash photographs of flying insects about 6 ms after they enter the photo zone.
