Vivitar DF200 flash unit

Post by nzmacro »

Ok, I've been looking for awhile for a flash unit that will sync with the FZ10 and its pre-flash. Along came the Vivitar DF200, great price and this thing works. Had it for 2 weeks now and its working a treat.

Full power down to a 1/16th, built in slave, no cords and fires off the inbuilt flash, swivel and tilt head. Guide number of 28 at 100 asa/iso, hey I'm getting old and asa still make sense :D

Now the clever thing about this particular flash, is that on the back is a switch called "Detect" Thats exactly what it does, it learns what your inbuilt flash does and how it works. Once its learnt when the main flash fires, its set up ready to go.

My main flash on the FZ10 fires on the second round, so now I just switch it to suit.

Heres the link, might be useful for you microscopy folks as well :D

Its not built like a tank, but its as good as my small Nikon.

All the best folks.

Danny.
